Closest focus is 70cm from outermost edge of the lens, F 8. Focus on the program wheel of the camera.

This old lens was sold for Zenit SLR cameras. It can be found for moderate prices because of the compatibility problem, it's nevertheless a decent moderate wide angle lens. Wide open it's sharp already, a bit soft towards the edges, but at least as good as others. Stopped down is fine. The lens has only some close focussing capablities. Seen the aperture (F 2.8), size and weight are fine.

The M39 Zenit Mount is the same thread as ordinary M39 (Leica), but  a different flange focal distance.
