outermost
edge of the lens, F 4. Focus on
the program wheel of the camera.
This
is a C-mount lens, a mount for movie and security cameras. You can
buy the lens with an E-mount adapter. As C-mount focal flange
distance is shorter than Sony E-mount, it comes with a slightly
recessed adapter. There was even a close focus ring and a shade in the
package. It's a basic lens. Aperture has no click stops and infinity
isn't at the infinity mark, but it focusses to infinity nevertheless.
It's a bright lens and astonishingly sharp in the center already wide
open, but very soft at the corners. At F 4 corner softness is only
slightly visible. At F 16 it hardly gets blurred
at the edges due to diffraction, much better
than other lenses. Diffraction is a problem of the APS-C sensor size,
not the
lens (see comparison page).
It's small and cheap, so don't expect high quality, but you have a
unique control of corner softness via the aperture. Quite some fun for
portrait sessions. It has some close focus capabilities, even without
the close focus ring.
